Experience the Christmas Spirit across Austria, Germany & Switzerland

It’s dark outside, but the lights are sparkling and making everything seem more magical. There is a sweet smell in the breeze, one of roasting chestnuts and mulled wine. Sounds of laughter and delight fill the air, just above the Christmas carols and songs we have all come to love over the years. If you close your eyes, you can almost see it and feel it, you are in one of the many wonderful Christmas Markets in Europe!

The time has come for us all to go back to our old traditions and find some new ones. The best way to start is by planning a trip to one of the amazing Christmas markets in Germany, Austria or Switzerland. Let us take you to the places the Christmas magic begins!

Vienna, Austria

From Saturday 11th November to Tuesday 16th December, the joy of Christmas takes over the city of Vienna. With punch and chestnut stands located on the beautiful streets of the capital, you and your family are guaranteed to get into the Christmas spirit.

Munich, Germany

Between Monday 27th November and Sunday 24th December, visit the Munich Christkindlmarkt at Marienplatz, the main square of the city. Since the 14th century, during this period, the square turns into a Christmas village filled with stalls alongside a real Nativity Scene.

Lucerne, Switzerland

The city of Lucerne turns into a Christmas wonderland from the 17th of November until the 23rd of December. Thanks to the Christmas markets and Advent activities all around Lucerne, you are sure to enjoy a magical time in a breath-taking location.

Interlaken, Switzerland

If you are looking for something extra special this year, look at the Christmas markets in the Holiday Region of Interlaken. In November and December, the region turns into the North Pole, with the scent of gingerbread, wood fires and pine needles in the air.

Of course, the guest of honour could always make an appearance! There is always the possibility that Santa Claus could arrive at some of the magical events organised around the Christmas markets and offer grown-ups and children alike the opportunity to really experience this fantastic time of the year.

These are just some of the splendid Christmas markets that take place every year in these countries. This year, get into the Christmas Spirit ahead and create memories with your family that will last a lifetime!
